Overview
National Geographic is renowned for its exceptional photography. Starting in 2013, we began creating interactive stories using advanced web technologies and high-quality multimedia. As modern web tech advanced, other media companies also sought creative interactive approaches for their articles. Leveraging National Geographic's wealth of high-quality videos and photos, we actively embraced this trend.
As one of the first designers who worked on National Geographic’s first web interactive storytelling article, I crafted over thirty interactive stories for the web, including 3D, AR, and VR experiences. We named them Immersive Storytelling experiences.
In my role as lead designer and developer for these immersive experiences, I delved into various user experiences and interfaces for multimedia presentations. This involved displaying scores of videos, hundreds of photos, and even substantial data visualizations with extensive datasets. Throughout my time at National Geographic, I conceptualized and brought to life numerous distinctive immersive storytelling experiences.
